Out of My Head (The "Missing" Verse")

One of my favorite songs is Out of My Head by Fastball from their 1999 album, All the Pain Money Can Buy.  If you are not familiar, here is a link to the song.

My only problem is that it is a very short song. Just when I start enjoying it, it comes to the end. I always thought it needed another verse...to expand on the themes, for balance, for pacing and just to extend the wonderful melody and harmonies.

So, I wrote one. Hope you like it...

Out of My Head
by Fastball
on All the Pain Money Can Buy (1999)
Original Lyrics:

Sometimes I feel
Like I am drunk behind the wheel
The wheel of possibilities
However it may roll

Give it a spin
See if you can somehow factor in
You know there's always more than one way
To say exactly what you mean to say

Chorus:
Was I out of my head? Was I out of my mind?
How could I have ever been so blind?
I was waiting for an indication
It was hard to find.

No matter what I say only what I do
I never mean to do bad things to you
So quiet but I finally woke up
If you're sad then its time you spoke up, too.

(Chorus repeats)
**But if it didn’t…and there was another verse
…what would that verse be before the chorus repeated?
Lost Verse Written May 3, 2012

So passed the years,
filled with comfort, bitterness and tears.
We scratched and clawed to stay afloat
surrounded by our fears.

Laughter and joy;
Wisdom known by every girl and boy.

We stand here naked;
judged uniquely
Mistakes we cling to;
the only truth we know.
Or...from July 27, 2005:

So passed the years,
filled throughout with far too many tears.
We scratched and clawed to stay afloat
when ever winds would blow.

Laughter and joy;
Wisdom felt by every girl and boy.

We stand here naked;
judged uniquely
Mistakes we cling to;
the only truth we know.
